If you’re a member of the Tàrrega Chamber of Commerce or follow its social media accounts, you probably already know that the Consortium for Commerce, Crafts, and Fashion of Catalonia (CCAM) has launched a grant program to help you digitize your business. Applications are now being accepted, and the deadline for submission is August 12. The Chamber provides a summary in this blog post.
Until now, these grants were awarded on a first-come, first-served basis: the sooner you submitted your application, the sooner you received the funds. This year will be different. Grants will now be awarded through a competitive process: you must submit a project justification report and achieve a minimum score. In other words, the grants will not go to the fastest companies, but to those that submit the most detailed project proposals.
What does the grant actually cover?
CCAM Program 5, the “Program to Support the Digital Transformation of Businesses to Promote Their Growth, Competitiveness, and Improve Their Level of Digital Maturity,” funds, up to 50%—with a maximum of €5,000—for initiatives such as creating a professional, responsive website; setting up an online store linked to a physical location; or SEO, SEM, and digital marketing activities, among others.

To ensure you receive the grants, you must avoid this mistake: submitting an application without a clear end goal. A grant without a technical project to back it up is nothing more than a worthless piece of paper.
